Anyhow, he was one great musician not to mention a hilarious comedian. rada | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,124 1000 Post Club Member | 1000 Post Club Member Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,124 | Hi everyone, Henry Mancini is one of my favorites . I had the priveledge of hearing him play in person years ago in La Jolla.....I don't think the solo Dudley played in the middle of the movie is Mancini's piece...is it? I know the song "It's Easy To Say". If it's the same piece I'll have to take a listen. Please let me know if you know for sure about this piece. thanks, rada | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,124 1000 Post Club Member | 1000 Post Club Member Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,124 | Yeah, I gues that's the piece...for some reason my memory wanted to recall another piano solo from that movie...though I love Dudley Moore I don't remember his 'banging' technique at the piano...not my favorite sound. rada | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 28 Full Member | OP Full Member Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 28 | Thank you Ivory Dreams for the link to the music by Dudley Moore. I was hoping to find a piano solo version of some of his more classical works, but I do appreciate the link you sent! ~Miss Sharon~ Peeples Piano Instruction | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 11 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 11 | Hey Miss Sharon I have a piece called And the Same to You which was a 'fantasia' if you will, on the theme of Colonel Bogey (famous old wartime song with a rather choice lyric if memory serves) Anyway, I learnt it parrot fashion in my youth by slowing the record down to 16rpm form 33rpm but now have the sheet music. I'm pleased to report I got most of it right but can now play all the right notes (though not neccesarilly in the right order! I prefer his wittier numbers to the more schmaltzy ones. At the moment, I'm trying to learn the piece he plays at 0:55 in this fantastic and very clever short-documentary, required viewing for you all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYlukIrJFrg Peter | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 11 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 11 | Just by ear. I don't know it's name either, but it's the theme to his and Peter Cook's show, 'Not Only...But Also' Peter | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1 | I heard another Dudley Moore piano piece the other day. "Madrigal". Does anyone know if there exists any sheet music for this very amusing work?
